Throughout its history, The Chicago Theatre has hosted a wide variety of celebrated silent films and movies, world-class theatre productions, sold-out concerts, side-splitting comedy shows and special events. The 3,600-seat venue was designed in the French Baroque style by architects Cornelius W. Rapp and George L. Rapp and is the oldest surviving example of this architectural style in Chicago today. The illustrious, six-story high “C-H-I-C-A-G-O” marquee is a city landmark.
The Chicago Theatre has become a highly attractive destination for concerts, comedy shows and other live events, hosting a wide range of entertainers such as comedians Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K., Conan O’Brien and John Oliver, along with and musicians Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Mumford & Sons, Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, Harry Connick Jr, Prince, Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin.
