New York Knicks Celebrate Black History Month
Amtrak to serve as Presenting Partner of Black History Month and Honor

New York, NY (February 1, 2013) - The New York Knickerbockers will celebrate Black History Month with a number of special promotions throughout February featuring Knicks players. Amtrak will serve as the presenting partner for Black History Month.
As part of the month-long celebration, Amtrak will recognize Della Britton Baeza, President and CEO of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, with the Amtrak Pioneer Award during halftime at the Knicks game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 24. The Amtrak Pioneer Award is presented to an individual who initiates change for the betterment of their community in which they live through their job, volunteerism or by creating new charities and community programs.

Throughout the month of February the Knicks will honor Black History Month with a series of 30-second vignettes presented by Amtrak, featuring Knicks players Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert and Amar'e Stoudemire. The vignettes will run at Madison Square Garden on GardenVision, the center-hung scoreboard; on MSG Network; and will be featured on KnicksNow.com. The Knicks will play seven home games during February, hosting the Milwaukee Bucks (2/1), Sacramento Kings (2/2), Detroit Pistons (2/4), Los Angeles Clippers (2/10), Toronto Raptors (2/13), Philadelphia 76ers (2/24) and Golden State Warriors (2/27).
Britton Baeza has served as President and CEO of the JRF since 2004 and is only the fourth individual to hold the position in the Foundation's 39-year history. In addition to overseeing fundraising and current programs, Britton Baeza has worked to expand the Foundation's exposure and national outreach. JRF is a national, not–for–profit, organization founded in 1973 to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson through the advancement of higher education among underserved populations.
