New York, NY (February 6, 2013) - msg-network-earns-record-67-new-york-emmy-award-nominations Tops Own Mark Set in 2010 for the Most Nominations Ever by a Single New York Television Network or Station More Than Any Other New York Television Network or Station for the Sixth Year in a Row MSG, MSG+ and MSG.com Combine for 83 Total New York Emmy Award Nominations

The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced today that MSG Network earned 67 New York Emmy Award nominations, more than any other New York television network or station for the sixth consecutive year, and the most ever for a single network. MSG Networks, which consists of MSG, MSG+ and MSG.com, totaled 83 nominations, including 12 for MSG+ and four for MSG.com.

The New York Emmy Awards recognize excellence in programming across television and other advanced media platforms. To be nominated for the 2013 Awards, programs had to be produced for telecast in New York State and northern New Jersey, and had to air between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012.

"We are very proud of MSG Network’s record-setting achievement with 67 New York Emmy nominations, and 83 in total for MSG, MSG+ and MSG.com," said Michael Bair, president, MSG Media. "That MSG has earned the most nominations for the sixth year in a row is a testament to all of the talented and passionate employees who settle for nothing less than excellence, and to receive 83 nominations across a number of diverse categories reinforces that our programming is a favorite among viewers. We are also thrilled to share this recognition with our distribution partners and advertising sponsors as well."

"At MSG Networks we are devoted to bringing viewers the very best in live event coverage and original sports and entertainment programming," said Daniel Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager, MSG Networks. "We are honored that the New York Chapter of NATAS has acknowledged our exceptional live sports production, original programming, promotions, on-air talent and online content."

MSG Networks’ New York Emmy nominations covered 42 different categories, ranging from sports and entertainment programming, to editing, writing, directing and promotion. In the highly sought-after Live Sports Event: Program/Special and Live Sports Event: Series categories, MSG and MSG+ received seven of the 12 total nominations: four for the 2011-2012 New York Knicks telecasts, including Friday Night Knicks, which was nominated twice, and one each for the 2011-12 New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders.

MSG Networks’ original programs garnered a total of 48 nominations in a variety of categories, including 10 nominations each for "The Garden Transformed: Year 1" and "The Lineup: Hits & Errors – The Best and Worst Deals in New York Baseball"; six nominations for "The Game 365"; four nominations for "Beginnings"; three nominations for "ProFiles" and "Hockey Night Live"; and two nominations for "MSG’s Vault."

In the On-Camera Talent categories, MSG Networks collected 11 combined nominations; Al Trautwig received three nominations, while Mike Breen, Joe Micheletti, Stan Fischler, Tina Cervasio and Billy Jaffe received one each. Actor Billy Crudup, who voiced-over "The Garden Transformed: Year 1," musician Robert Randolph, who wrote and performed the opening of "Friday Night Knicks," and MSG original program "10 to One" host Brittany Umar, all received a nomination in the Performer/Narrator category. Trautwig, John Giannone and Steve Cangialosi were nominated in the Writer: Sports category.

MSG.com received two of its four total nominations in the Interactivity category for coverage of the 2011 Traverse City Prospects Tournament and the three-year, top-to-bottom Transformation of Madison Square Garden.

Award winners will be announced on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the 56th annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony to be held at The Marriott Marquis in Times Square. A full list of nominations for MSG, MSG+ and MSG.com are included below.
