MSG'S Rangers Playoff Rating Up 19% Over Last Season Through First Two Playoff Games
3.33 Average Nielsen Household Rating for First Two Playoff Games on MSG
New York, NY (April 16, 2012) - MSG's average Nielsen household rating for the first two telecasts of the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators in the opening round of the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs is up 19% compared to the Rangers' first two playoff game telecasts last season (3.33 HH vs. 2.79 HH) when the team faced the Washington Capitols.
Saturday's Game 2 on MSG averaged a 3.24 household rating after Thursday's Game 1 scored a 3.41 household rating. Last season's first and second playoff games on MSG Networks garnered a 3.45 household rating (MSG+) and a 2.12 household rating (MSG), respectively.
Rangers ratings on MSG Networks continue to surge after a strong second half of the regular season when the team's game telecasts saw a 29% increase in average household ratings for the last 34 games compared to the first 34 games.
With the series tied at one game each, the Rangers and the Senators face off tonight in Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. MSG's coverage of the game begins at 6:30 p.m. with the "Nissan Rangers Game Night" pregame show and continues for an hour after the final horn with the "Mercedes Postgame Show." MSG has exclusive coverage in the New York region of all New York Rangers games in the first round of the NHL Playoffs.
