of the Historic, Three-Year Madison Square Garden Transformation Project

Former Garden Greats Reenact and Discuss Their Memorable MSG Moments

Premieres Monday, December 17 at 11:00 p.m. with a New Episode Each Night Next Week

New York, NY (December 13, 2012) - The second phase of Madison Square Garden's historic, three-year, top-to-bottom Transformation will take center stage next week on MSG Network with the new series "The Garden Transformed: Year Two" presented by Chase. The five-part series, voiced-over by actor Billy Crudup, will premiere Monday, December 17, immediately following coverage of the Knicks-Rockets game with new episodes debuting each night of the week.

To complete the second phase of the Transformation, this past summer, there were more than 1,000 construction workers at The Garden on a daily basis, with work taking place around the clock right up until the Knicks' opening night game against the Miami Heat. MSG Network was there to capture this amazing accomplishment, which transformed the upper bowl of The World's Most Famous Arena.

The series focuses not only on the construction itself, but on the personalities of the people who worked day in and day out on this tremendous project driven by their dedication to the beloved Arena. In addition, the show includes all new interviews with a number of athletes and celebrities, who over the years have left an indelible mark on the legendary building, as they return to The Garden to see the Transformation's progress for themselves.

Former Knicks star Larry Johnson stopped in to show one of the workers, who saw firsthand Johnson's four-point play in the 1999 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, exactly how the famous shot went down, while Rangers great Stephane Matteau told a group of Blueshirt fans working on the building about the moments before his legendary Game 7 goal against the New Jersey Devils that sent the Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals. Former undisputed World Middleweight Champion Bernard Hopkins also shared a few boxing tips and talked about what The Garden means to him.

"When you come to Madison Square Garden, you know you're fighting in a sacred place, and you can't say that about many places," said Hopkins. "I'm glad that I'm one of the fighters that had a chance to leave some of my sweat here."

Other athletes and celebrities throughout the series include former Islanders star Denis Potvin, who discusses the infamous Garden chant bearing his name, Rangers legend Adam Graves, WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, former New York State Governor Mario Cuomo, Rangers Ryan McDonagh and Rick Nash, and the Knicks' Iman Shumpert.

One other notable homecoming is also captured in the series: the return of The Garden's beloved blue seats in the upper bowl. After a more than 20 year absence, a portion of the seats famous for some of New York's most notorious chants come back in the exact same color as the original seats from the 70s and 80s.

"I was nine years old, my old man was a city cop, he took me and my three brothers to one of those Stanley Cup Finals games in 1972 against the Bruins," said one construction worker. "It was something special. I sat in the blue seats."

In the series, viewers will see the gutting and rebuilding of the upper bowl, which offers fans new larger, more comfortable seats and significantly improved sightlines. The incline of the upper bowl increased 17 degrees, moving fans seven to 10 feet, or nearly three rows, closer to the action.

The new expanded Garden Concourse (8th floor) includes city views in select areas, additional restrooms and retail locations, and new first-class food and beverage options. Final work was completed on the Madison Concourse (6th floor), including the addition of two unique exhibits that pay homage to The Garden's 133-year history. These include a visual retrospective that brings to life one moment in Garden history for every day of the year, called "Garden 366," and special displays featuring photos and memorabilia that commemorate 10 of The Garden's top 20 "Defining Moments." The remaining 10 "Defining Moments" will debut next season on the Garden Concourse.

The new Lexus Madison Suite Level (7th floor) features 58 new Madison Level Suites that will open throughout the 2012-13 seasons, along with the new Madison Club presented by Foxwoods, both located as close as 23 rows away from the action. The Madison Club presented by Foxwoods is a new all-inclusive, membership-only club that includes access to more than 100 sporting events held at The Garden.

In fall 2013, the third and final phase of the Transformation will be unveiled and will feature two spectacular new Chase Bridges and the new expanded Chase Square entrance off 7th Avenue. The final phase also will include the new Budweiser Fan Deck (10th floor), a state-of-the-art GardenVision center-hung scoreboard, 18 completely remodeled Garden Suites (9th floor) and the restoration of the iconic Garden ceiling.

Madison Square Garden hosts more than 400 events each year with over four million fans passing through the turnstiles. For more than a century The Garden has embraced generations of fans who have come to express their pride and passion for teams, athletes, performers, and statesmen at the hundreds of historic events and defining moments that have taken place at The World's Most Famous Arena.
